In April, WWE released Aleister Black for the second time. Following his 90 day non-compete, he returned to PROGRESS Wrestling and reverted to using his AEW name, Malakai Black. In his second match back, he ended Cara Noir's 126 day title reign to become World Champion. Just 21 days later, Black dropped the title back to Noir at the "When September Ends" show.

During Sunday's match, PROGRESS noted that fans kept chanting for Tommy End. Following the shocking upset, Black addressed the fans. "You guys have made your presence felt, I'm Tommy End and I'm not going anywhere."

PROGRESS posted to social media using that quote and said "TOMMY END RETURNS NEXT MONTH AT BONESTORM".

Tommy End was Black's name on the indies prior to wrestling in WWE and AEW. Following his return to the indies, Black shaved his head. He also admitted that his return to WWE was a "f***ing dud of a year" and opened up about returning to PROGRESS. Prior to his current stint, he held the PROGRESS tag titles with Michael Dante for 188 days.
