Vince Russo Doesn't Think Samoa Joe Will Go To Main Roster; Talks Bobby Roode In WWE, New Show
As noted, former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan and former WWE / TNA head creative writer Vince Russo joined me for the post-SummerSlam edition of the Wrestling Inc. podcast. In addition to reviewing SummerSlam, during the show Russo discussed why he thinks there have been so many WWE Wellness Policy violations lately and WWE signing former TNA stars.
Russo and Morgan agreed that Bobby Roode should be on the main roster, with Russo stating that Roode is "the guy" and he'd pick him over anybody to be on the WWE roster. Russo also said that he doesn't think that WWE will put Samoa Joe on the main roster.
"I hate to say it... I'm not even going to say it because I'm going to get myself in trouble, but I don't see them putting him on the main roster," Russo said.
A shocked Morgan asked Russo if he was "nuts," and Russo replied, "I think Joe has not gone up from NXT for a reason, and I'm not gonna say why because I'll be bombarded with by freakin' NXT people and I don't want to deal with it. I'm not going to say it, but knowing Vince McMahon, there is a reason."
Morgan noted that with Kevin Owens being on the main roster that it shows that the thinking in the company is changing regarding wrestlers of different shapes and sizes. Russo noted, "I didn't say anything about shape or size, you did."
Morgan said that Joe "will absolutely be on the main roster and absolutely will be a big star."
Russo's comments about TNA and the Wellness suspensions begin at around the 1:10:00 mark. You can check out the full episode in the video above, or download it by clicking here.
