Backstage News On Plans For Kota Ibushi's WWE Future, WWE Cruiserweight Division Updates, More
Regarding the WWE Cruiserweight division re-launching, it sounds like it could come to the RAW brand some time in September. According to PWInsider, WWE has started reaching out to talents for the purpose of signing them to the division. Those talents are being told that they will start in September.
This goes with the recent report confirming that WWE had commissioned a new Cruiserweight Title belt. It's believed that the title will premiere at the September 14th live WWE Cruiserweight Classic finale but that's not confirmed.
Some of the cruiserweight talents not being offered deals are being brought back to the CWC and WWE NXT TV tapings as officials still want them in the mix as there's potential for them to be signed as well.
Regarding Kota Ibushi, he's not signing with the company at this point but officials still want him around in NXT. He's currently scheduled to work SummerSlam weekend, indicating a likely appearance at the "Takeover: Back To Brooklyn" event, and will likely be brought in periodically to be spotlighted. This may be WWE's way of continuing to use Ibushi and show him that they want him there.
Other names rumored for the division include Cedric Alexander and Roderick Strong.
