Former WWE GM Says MVP And Shelton Benjamin Are Returning To WWE, MVP Responds
With the brand extension coming into effect earlier this week, there have been reports about various former WWE superstars being approached by the organization to return to the company. We had earlier reported that Rhyno and Curt Hawkins are set to return to the main roster, and it is now being reported that former WWE superstars Shelton Benjamin and MVP are also on their way back to the organization.
This information was revealed by Theodore Long, who served as the General Manager of SmackDown, and "signed" MVP to a big money deal during his time. Long was a guest on the Gerwick Report Podcast earlier this week, and talked about MVP and Shelton Benjamin's return to the organization.
Long claimed to have met MVP during a wrestling show recently, and said MVP confided in him that he, along with Benjamin are scheduled to undergo their medicals, after which they would return to the organization. WWE has been actively reaching out to the former superstars to return to the organization, given that RAW and SmackDown are now separate entities.
MVP is a former WWE United States Champion, and won the WWE Tag Team titles along with Matt Hardy. After requesting for his release, MVP worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling, TNA and was signed by Lucha Underground, before being released for violating the terms of his contract, when he interviewed LU stars for his podcast.
Benjamin too is a former WWE United States Champion, WWE Intercontinental Champion and multi time WWE Tag Team Champion along with Charlie Haas. Benjamin was released from his contract back in 2010, and has since worked for various independent promotions including Ring of Honor, and also worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan.
However, MVP has taken to Twitter to deny reports that he is on his way back to WWE.
The same reports that had us at the draft? The ones that have us at the Rumble every year? "Reports"...https://t.co/v7mIbjX4lF
