WWE Being Sued By Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka And Dozens Of Other Wrestlers

Bloomberg reports that WWE was sued today by "dozens" of retired wrestlers who are claiming that the WWE was responsible for neurological injuries they suffered from years of wrestling.

Bloomberg noted that the suit was filed on behalf of WWE legends Joseph Laurinaitis, f.k.a. Road Warrior Animal, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka, Chris "King Kong Bundy" Pallies, and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff as well as other former wrestlers and referees not named.

WWE is accused of hiding the long-term effects of neurological injuries, failing to provide care for the wrestlers' repetitive head injuries "in any medically competent or meaningful manner," and placing "corporate gain over its wrestlers' health, safety and financial security, choosing to leave the plaintiffs severely injured and with no recourse to treat their damaged minds and bodies."

WWE sent Wrestling Inc. the following statement regarding the suit:

"This is another ridiculous attempt by the same attorney who has previously filed class action lawsuits against WWE, both of which have been dismissed. A federal judge has already found that this lawyer made patently false allegations about WWE, and this is more of the same."

The suit is similar to the lawsuit against the NFL, who were sued by more than 5,000 former players seeking damages for head injuries. The NFL settled and agreed to pay $765 million to resolve the suit.
