Holly Holm Talks Negativity Ronda Rousey Is Facing, If She Put It Upon Herself, More
Ronda Rousey has long been one of the most polarizing figure in sports. Some love her for creating a powerful image for women to look up to, while others don't see her as the ideal role model for any number of reasons. Either way, Rousey is unapologetic in her personality.
Rousey's foe Holly Holm saw the heavy criticism Rousey received following their UFC 193 bout. From fans to Lady Gaga to Donald Trump, the hatred was poured on to the former champion Rousey. Holm said that she hated to see things happen that way, but understands why they did.
"I think she put herself in that position. She's even said herself that if people don't like her style, she doesn't care," Holm told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour this week. "That's who she is and she doesn't claim to be anybody else. I don't have any animosity towards her, a lot of people feel like maybe I should. I just don't waste energy with stuff like that."
Even though Holm was on the wrong end of some of Rousey's negativity, she doesn't think that all of the venom spewed in Rousey's direction is needed.
"Some of the negativity that she's received, some of it is not necessary. People get pretty brutal about stuff. I think she's tough enough, I think she can handle it. I don't think she's ever felt something like this before. I think she is going through a really rough time," Holm said.
Holm went on to say that she's sure that Rousey is bitter about the loss, but every person deals with defeat in their own way. Holm is rumored to be facing Miesha Tate in March at UFC 197 while Rousey heals up injuries.
