Conor McGregor And Holly Holm Booked For Blockbuster UFC Pay-Per-View, Two Title Fights, More
After the UFC's best pay-per-view year since the Brock Lesnar era, the company is looking to make a splash in early 2016. According to Bleacher Report, UFC 197 is going to be a stacked show, headlined by two champions.
Bleacher Report's Jeremy Botter reported that Conor McGregor got his wish, and will be taking on UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos in a huge champion vs. Champion match on March 5 in Las Vegas. McGregor defeated Jose Aldo last month at UFC 194 to become the UFC Feathwerweight Champion.
Frankie Edgar was considered by many to be next in line for McGregor, as he is the definite number one contender for the 145- pound title. However McGregor stated that he wanted to become a two-division champion, and actively defend both championships. His coaches had hoped for a permanent move to 155-pounds.

It doesn't end there, however, as Holly Holm will also defend her newly won UFC Women's Bantamweight championship against perennial contender Miesha Tate. Ronda Rousey will still receive a rematch when she's ready to return, but Holm wanted to fight in the interim. Regardless of who emerges victorious, it makes for a huge fight when Rousey returns.
UFC 197 takes place March 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wrestling Inc will have full, live coverage of the event. The event was moved from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Las Vegas in the wake of a Brazilian economic crisis.
