UFC 192: Cormier Vs. Gustafsson Recap: Classic Championship Fight, Ronda Rousey Gets Called Out

Welcome to Wrestling Inc's live coverage of UFC 192: Cormier Vs. Gustafsson. Tonight's event is headlined by a light heavyweight championship fight between Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson.

Main Card

Jessica Eye (#6) vs. Julianna Pena (#12)
Round 1:
Both women trade punches before a clinch and takedown from Eye. Pena gets up, but is pushed against the cage and gets a takedown of her own. Pena lands some nice knees in the clinch, but momentum keeps getting reversed. Pena ends up in side control landing elbows.

Round 2: Eye gets another takedown and moves into side control. She tries to take the back of Pena, but ends up getting an arm triangle instead. She can't clear the leg, and ends up in a headscissors. Pena gets kneed in the head illegally, and Eye gets a point deducted.

Wrestling Inc scores the round a 9-9 draw.

Round 3: Pena scores a quick takedown, and is warned for punches to the back of the head. Eye gets some elbows from a sideways triangle, but Pena catches her in a rear naked choke. Eye somehow survives, but is pounded from the top. to close the round.

Pena calls out Ronda Rousey after the fight. Good luck with that.

Ali Bagautinov (#14) vs. Joseph Benavidez (#1)
Round 1:
Benavidez starts with a big right hand. The two trade, but neither does much damage. Ali hits a big uppercut that splits Benavidez open. The round closes without much action going down.

Round 2: Benavidez throws a couple of head kicks, but Ali throws a leg kick in return. Benavidez with more kicks, a thunderous shot to Ali's body. The two trade punches, and Benavdez goes right back to big kicks. Ali times a kick and takes Benavidez down, but the action goes right back to the feet.

Round 3: Benavidez scores with a hard body kick an a short punch. Benvidez avoids getting too aggressive and lands a quick right hand. Bagautinov is loading up on all of his punches and is leaving himself open. Benavidez also connects with a knee right out of the clinch midway through the round. Ali gets a couple of punches, but gets kicked by Benavidez. The crowd doesn't like this fight.

The crowd is eating Joseph Benavidez alive, they aren't happy with him. Neither one of these guys looked like they have anything for Demetrious Johnson, who was at the arena tonight. It's like he's stalking former victims.

Shawn Jordan vs. Ruslan Magomedov
Round 1:
Jordan rushes early, but nothing comes of it. He does it again, and eats a couple of punches from Jordan. Jordan manages a takedown, but gets caught in a double wristlock, which is pretty much just used to defend the takedown. Magomedov lands a couple of nice kicks and a couple of big punches.

Round 2: Jordan comes out aggressive, but gets tagged twice. Jordan doesn't seem to care, as he lands a kick and two punches of his own. Jordan keeps doing for a takedown, and tries for Sweet Chin Music. Magomedov kicks Jordan in the face, then lands a series of punches.

Round 3: Jordan comes out swinging and gets caught with a head kick and a spinning back kick. Jordan looks like he's hurting as he gets caught with a front kick to the body. Magomedov scores several more, and Jordan can't get anything going at all.

Magomedov looked impressive, even though the fight wasn't that great.

Rashad Evans (#5) vs. Ryan Bader (#4)
Round 1:
Bader lands a couple of straights about a minute into the round. Evans goes for an ankle pick, but can't get it, then comes up empty on an overhand right. A jab from Bader lands a nice jab, but gets hit with a right hand from Evans. Bader and Evans clinch, and Bader lands a nice elbow.

Round 2: Bader opens with a good combo and a body kick to start off. Rashad gets a body kick of his own, but Bader takes Evans down. Evans makes it back up to his feet and connects with a couple of really good punches. Bader keeps landing the jab, and Evans' eye is in rough shape. Bader with a body kick-jab combo, and he's in control. Evans keeps trying to land the overhand, but Bader seems like he knows it's coming.

Round 3: Bader lands a left hook to the swollen right eye of Evans, followed by an uppercut off of a faked shot. Evans rushes Bader after getting jabbed, but just ends up in a a cage clinch where he gets elbowed. Bader follows up with a hard body kick, and Rashad scores a right hand. Another cage clinch from Rashad with 90 seconds left, showing no urgency, and he gets elbowed. Evans does score a high kick, but gets briefly taken down. The two trade punches as the fight ends.

Official Result: Ryan Bader (#4) defeated Rashad Evans (#5) via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Ryan Bader looked the best he has ever looked, and absolutely deserves a title shot. It all depends on what happens with Jon Jones' suspension, though.

UFC Light Heavyweight Championship
Daniel Cormier (c) vs. Alexander Gustafsson (#2)
Round 1:
Cormier turns Gustafsson inside out with a huge slam. Cormier works from the top for several minutes, but doesn't do much damage. Gustafsson gets back to his feet, and gets leg kicked for his troubles. Cormier with a nice right hand to end the round.

Round 2: Gustafsson stars off with a nice combos, but keeps looking over at his corner. Cormier lands a big punch and swarms Gustafsson, but gets taken down! They're back up and Cormier slugs Gustafsson with bug punches. Gustafsson scores a couple of leg kicks, but gets punched several times in the process. They're trading now, and Cormier finds success with a big combo. Cormier is landing big shots, and Gustafsson is walking right into them.

Round 3: A big uppercut from Gustafsson kicks off the round, but Cormier comes back with several of his own from the clinch. Gustafsson throws punches at range, but gets blasted by uppercuts from Cormier. Gustafsson drops Cormier out of nowhere, and follows up with punches. Cormier gets back up, and the crowd goes nuts.

Round 4: Gustafsson does damage early with punches, but almost gets caught turning his back to Cormier. Gustafsson and DC both trade punches, but Gustaffson is getting caught turning around.

Round 5: Cormier gets two big right hands, and Gustafsson lands a straight. Gustafsson keeps turning and running to get back to the center of the cage. The two end up in a clinch, where they trade uppercuts. Gustafsson scores a knee, but Cormier goes to work with punches in the clinch. Gustafsson lands a knee to end the fight, but it's not enough.

Official Result: Daniel Cormier (c) defeated Alexander Gustafsson (#2) via split decision (48-47, 47-48, 49-46) to retain the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.

Cormier thanks Gustafsson for making him a better fighter, and says he will always be indebted to him.
