Roddy Piper Says Steve Austin May Have Caused His Podcast To Be Dropped By Podcast One
Roddy Piper's podcast returned today, without the aid of host Podcast One. Will Sasso was Piper's guest back in April, and as it turns out, created quite a bit of controversy when it was originally released.
Sasso impersonated Steve Austin on the podcast, something that Austin apparently took exception to. Piper apologized to Sasso on air, as Austin was apparently upset about the impersonation. Sasso and Austin are friends, and it "got Sasso in trouble," according to Piper.
"After the show aired, about six hours it was taken down from where I was formerly, with the threat of firing me. There's the problem, don't threaten me. This podcast had so much love in it. It's a strong reaction I got to want to fire me," Piper said.
He said on Periscope recently that he's been fired before, but would want to at least do something that warranted the firing. Piper's co-host stated on the podcast that he didn't think anything went too far, and more people simply needed to take it as a joke.
"Stone Cold strikes me as the type of person who doesn't have a sense of humor," Piper's co-host said. Piper added, "It's satire. I don't take shots. This was in love."
