WWE's Most Ridiculous Gimmick Matches Of All-Time
By SHANE O'NEILL
14. Greatest Wrestling Match
After Edge beat his former partner Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36, Orton challenged the “Rated-R Superstar” to a singles match at “Backlash,” and the match was touted as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.” The veterans delivered a strong performance, but attaching the gimmick set impossible expectations.
13. Gulf of Mexico Match
CM Punk and Chavo Guerrero clashed on the February 5, 2008 episode of “ECW,” at the edge of the continental United States to have WWE’s only Gulf of Mexico match. The match was stipulated to end once one of them fell into the water, so when Guerrero took a Go to Sleep and took a dip into the Gulf, Punk was declared victorious.
12. Dumpster Matches
Somewhat similar to a casket match, a dumpster match involves tossing your opponent inside a dumpster and closing the top to be declared a winner. The first dumpster match in WWE history came in 1998 at WrestleMania XIV when the New Age Outlaws were defeated by Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie.

The match was slow and boring given how limited steps are as a weapon, and this particular stipulation hasn’t been brought back after Big Show won the match.
10. Evening Gown Match
King of the Ring 2000 featured a hardcore evening gown match between the legends Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson for the Hardcore championship. Brisco and Patterson — both dressed as women, complete with wigs and makeup — attempted to tear off each other’s evening gowns until Crash Holly showed up and grabbed the title.
