Vince McMahon's Cringeworthy Performance At The 1987 Slammy Awards
By NICK MILLER
Over the last 40 years, Vince McMahon has served as an important onscreen figure for the WWE, becoming beloved by a wide portion of the company's fanbase. However, one thing that almost everyone can likely agree on is the ridiculousness of his performance at the 1987 Slammy Awards.
When the 1987 edition of the Slammy Awards rolled around, McMahon performed the "Stand Back" number from the album "Piledriver: The Wrestling Album II," produced by rock legend Rick Derringer. Although his vocal performance was surprisingly decent, his stage antics were shockingly over the top, even for McMahon.
McMahon's dance movements were tremendously cheesy, especially the moment when he gestured suggestively, either towards the ground or his nether regions. A decade before embracing his "Mr. McMahon" persona on TV, this performance serves as a glimpse into that future while also staying true to the late-1980s.
