12 Best Wardlow Matches We'd Love To See Happen
By BENJAMIN FALBO
Sammy Guevara
With ill-advised promos, bizarre bookings, and insufferable on-screen chemistry with Tay Conti, Sammy Guevara is viscerally loathsome, but heat is imperative for a championship feud. With Guevara currently heeling it up again and considering his legitimate prowess as a high flyer, his fast-paced offense would mesh nicely with Wardlow's size and strength.
Willie "Powerhouse" Hobbs
Now on his own after the end of Team Taz, Willie "Powerhouse" Hobbs looks to dominate the AEW roster and win some long overdue championship gold, and a TNT Title encounter with Wardlow would be an excellent first step. Hoss fights between two sizable opponents often make for some truly captivating matchups, so this would definitely be a must-see.
Luchasaurus
Wrestling while decorated as a prehistoric creature, Luchasaurus is definitely one of AEW's more visually intriguing acts, but he also possesses a frightening combination of power and freakish agility. Both Wardlow and Luchasaurus can easily match each other in terms of size and strength, which would make for a justifiable and stellar hoss fight.
Jungle Boy
Son of actor Luke Perry, Jungle Boy's first major AEW claim to fame was surviving a 10-minute challenge with Chris Jericho, and his 2021 championship match with Kenny Omega cemented him as a world title contender. Possessing both agility and a keen sense of timing, a size versus speed matchup with Wardlow would definitely fire up the raucous AEW crowd.
Ricky Starks
Fan favorite Ricky Starks was the first NWA World Television Champion before he moved to AEW to take on then-TNT champion Cody Rhodes on "Dynamite" in 2020. A triple threat of speed, skill, and charisma, Starks would make a stellar opponent for Wardlow for the TNT title in a matchup that could easily main-event any episode of "Dynamite" or "Rampage."
