Kota Ibushi Staying With NJPW, Kenny Omega Responds
With Kenny Omega joining All Elite Wrestling, many were wondering if Kota Ibushi would be following him. Ibushi himself answered that question at The New Beginning in Osaka event.
Ibushi made a surprise appearance and gave an update to the crowd that his neck and back were fine after suffering injuries during his match with Will Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom 13. He also stated that he isn't going anywhere and will be staying with New Japan Pro Wrestling. If he has his way, he will be staying with the promotion for the foreseeable future, from all of 2019 to 2021.
Along with that message, Ibushi stated that he will be competing in the New Japan Cup, which will be starting on March 8. The winner of the tournament will receive a championship match at the G1 Supercard show inside Madison Square Garden on April 6.
Kenny Omega, Ibushi's longtime friend and tag team partner, sent out a response on Twitter regarding the announcement.
"See you again one day," Kenny stated "Good luck."
.@ibushi_kota "I'll stay New Japan Pro-Wrestling."
