ROH Re-Signs Ian Riccaboni, WWE And AEW Both Had Interest
ROH Announcer Ian Riccaboni has signed a new multi-year deal with Ring of Honor, according to PWTorch.
Riccaboni's previous contract was signed in April of last year, but he could have opted out next month to negotiate with other promotions. Ring of Honor didn't want that opportunity to take place as both WWE and AEW had interest in the announcer.
Even though ROH took an aggressive approach to re-signing him, Riccaboni's preference was reportedly to stay with the company. After Kevin Kelly left Ring of Honor to work full-time for NJPW in 2017, Riccaboni became the company's lead announcer.
Riccaboni confirmed the report early today on Twitter.
.@ringofhonor means the world to me; the wrestlers, the crew, and the fans. We're a family.
I approached our office and producers about staying. They shared the same sentiment.
I am excited to announce that I signed a mult-year deal to stay with ROH. Happy wrestling, indeed!
