Tommy Dreamer On Austin Aries Getting Booed During HOH Promo, His Training Seminar This Week
Hardcore wrestling legend Tommy Dreamer recently spoke to WrestlingInc.com owner Raj Giri to promote his upcoming House of Hardcore show. Dreamer also discussed his friendship with Austin Aries, who wrestled this past weekend for his promotion, House of Hardcore.
"I've known him for a long, long time. We actually talk a lot outside of wrestling and not really just about wrestling," Dreamer said. "39 talents have signed with the WWE that I used, some have come back, he's one of them. A lot of guys, once they leave you don't really hear from them, he would talk to me every once in a while... We're friends. I think Austin Aries is very misunderstood."
Aries had previously appeared at a House of Hardcore show after he was released by the WWE. He cut a promo that wasn't well-received by the fans in attendance. Dreamer admitted that Aries' promo had some flaws, but he appreciated how real it was and how he overcame distractions from fans.
"He was nervous, and I was like, 'Dude, just go out there and talk.' We were going back and forth and I was like you don't have to tell me your promo, I handed him a live microphone and I promoted it as that. I said, 'You were an announcer on RAW, you have stuff to say, get it off your chest,'" Dreamer said. "I do feel his promo was too long, but yes, what happened to him was that people started heckling him and it threw him off. But then he delivered his promo and it was a very good promo, and I shouldn't even say promo, he was just talking, and that was from his heart. When you leave WWE, there's a bit of uncertainty going on and I said, 'Hey man, if you're mad, tell us. If you're said, tell us. Go out there and talk to the people.'"
Dreamer will be hosting a seminar at The Academy: School of Professional Wrestling, which is owned by Ken Anderson and Shawn Daivari, this Wednesday, December 8th. All are welcome from those with no pro-wrestling training, to established wrestlers looking to expand their knowledge and take their game to the next level. For more information, click here. "It's funny, I hired both guys into WWE, both super duper talented. I'm also looking for talent for my own company. They have two groups, there's one with people who have no experience to 20 matches, that's the first session and then the second session is if you're a more experienced wrestler and you're trying to get a look. For me, my seminars are I don't care how many times you can run the ropes, I'm very honest with people and will try to help them take their careers to the next level. That's how I've always been, and I'll try to improve them."
