Young Bucks Blame Loss On New Day Shirts (Video), Kenny Omega, WWE Japan Attendance, Shibata Defends

- Battle News reported the attendance for the two WWE house shows at Tokyo Sumo Hall this weekend. The event on July 1 was before 8,506 fans. Attendance for the July 2 show was slightly higher: 8,764. Depending on the configuration, this could have been close to a sell-out. The Tokyo Sumo Hall holds around 10,000 attendees when most Japanese promotions run there, although WWE probably blocks off more seats for their entrance stage.

- NEVER Openweight Champion Katsuyori Shibata beat Tomoaki Honma to retain his title earlier today in the main event of New Japan Pro Wrestling's show in Iwate, Japan, which aired live on NJPWWorld.com. The event drew 2129, according to NJPW's website.

- Also on the show, Ricochet, Matt Sydal and Satoshi Kojima defeated Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks to win the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Title. After the match, Kojima called out his long-time partner Hiroyoshi Tenzan and gave him his spot in this year's G1 Climax tournament. The G1 starts on July 18.

- After that match, Omega and the Young Bucks released a video, embedded above, continuing to tease a feud between themselves and WWE's New Day. This is after an earlier skit where Omega convinced the Bucks to wear New Day shirts for their entrance on the New Japan show.
