How TNA Fared In New Time Slot Compared To Last Year's Move On Destination America
TNA's Impact Wrestling lost no viewers as a result of its move from Tuesday to Thursday night on PopTV. In fact, the first night on Thursdays, last week, was the show's second-most viewed episode on Pop with 362,000 viewers, behind only the Final Deletion episode from July 5 (410,000 viewers).
When Impact was on Destination America last year, the program aired for twenty straight weeks on Friday nights. When DA made an agreement to pick up Ring of Honor as well, the channel decided to put both TNA and ROH in the same block on Wednesday nights, starting June 3, 2015. TNA's Impact program dropped 28% from 413,000 viewers the week before, to 297,000, and continued a steady decline until Dixie Carter's promotion's run ended on DA at the end of 2015.
Impact maintaining its viewership so well is impressive because it's plausible regular viewers might've been broken from their viewing routine or might have missed the news about the time slot change. To its credit, TNA put in a good effort to inform its viewers of the new night, such as releasing the Final Deletion video on YouTube with a banner about the new time slot frozen at the bottom.
TNA announced Impact would move from Tuesdays to Thursdays earlier this month. This allows them to avoid going partly head-to-head with WWE SmackDown, which recently announced its move from Thursday to Tuesday nights.
