EC3 Agrees With WWE On His Release; Talks If TNA Should Sign Damien Sandow, Eric Young In WWE, More

Recently on Sam Roberts' Wrestling Podcast, former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Ethan Carter III talked about getting released by WWE, the success of former TNA talent in WWE, and whether TNA should explore signing Aaron Haddad, formerly known as Damien Sandow in WWE.

Carter, who was released by WWE in 2013, admitted that he would have released himself too if he was a decision-maker with WWE at the time.

"This is business, and, at the time, where I was, I would have released me too, especially considering I was kind of on the road, but not really, and then I was kind of in developmental, but not really. And then, someone takes over a position of power, they put different guys in charge, you're not somebody's guy," Carter continued. "You're just floating in outer space. You're trying and you're striving and you're doing everything you can, but if it's not in the cards, it's not going to be in the cards."

According to Carter, he considered leaving the professional wrestling business when he was released by WWE. Also, Carter said he probably would have been among the talents released by WWE last week if he stayed with the company.

"You have your dream job, and, in the end, it becomes a nightmare. And then, you get fired. You're kind of like, 'what the? What was that for?'" Carter added, "if I didn't have a change, I would have been probably fired [from WWE on Black Friday 2016] with those guys if I was still there, just stuck, lost, low to midcard. If I didn't have a change, I wouldn't be the guy I am today."

Carter claimed that Samoa Joe was the best person who could have gone to WWE to prove that former TNA talents can hang with WWE performers.

"Joe's killing it. All the guys that left [TNA] and had that opportunity [to go to WWE] are doing great." EC3 added, "I think Joe is maybe the best guy to maybe pave that way because he went over there and did, considerably, a great job. And maybe people in WWE didn't think some of the guys that made it in TNA were WWE material, but he just went in there and destroyed. And he had something to prove and he had a vendetta and he had his angst and he's fired up."

'Wrestling's Greatest Hero' said he is happy for the former TNA performers who have gone on to sign with WWE. Specifically, Carter mentioned being very happy for Eric Young, who recently debuted for NXT.

"We're really happy for Eric Young too. You don't know how good someone is until you're in the ring with them and you can see them if they're good. Eric Young's a guy who I was always like, 'oh, he's really good' and then I wrestled him and I was like, 'this guy is friggin unbelievable!' It's just weird things you can only do when you're in the ring with somebody. So he deserves all the success in the world. He's one of the good guys too, so it's good to see."

On the topic of WWE's recent round of releases, Carter stated that it would be a mistake for TNA not to look into signing the former Damien Sandow.

"I think [TNA] would definitely be remiss to not explore that opportunity, especially because TNA sometimes has this negative reputation with however they handle talent, but I think, universally, across the board, those people that are negative on TNA's talent evaluation love Sandow. And I think if you give Sandow freedom to creatively develop, it would probably be unbelievable."

In addition to these topics, EC3 talked about how he got signed by TNA, what it is like to work with Billy Corgan, and much more. Click here to check out the show.
