In a big surprise from Lucha Underground's season 3 tapings, Sexy Star became the first female Lucha Underground Champion during the company's Aztec Warfare 3 match, according to F4W.

The undefeated Matanza was beaten halfway through the match by former WWE star Rey Mysterio. Later in the match it came down to Sexy Star and Mil Muertes, with Star pushing him through a table and stomping him for the victory.
