Vince Russo Says TNA's Own Laziness Cost Them Quality On Their Show

Vince Russo's tumultuous relationship with TNA is no secret. For the better part of 12 years, the one-time WCW champion worked closely with the company before the two permanently split in 2014.

Earlier that year, Russo had been working in secret with TNA as a consultant, writing without the knowledge of many in wrestling. On last week's Nuclear Heat, Russo explained how not being present at the tapings affected the product.

"A lot of times I wrote maybe 10, 12, 15 pre-tapes or backstage vignettes that they needed to shoot at the building. Since Dixie Carter wanted to keep it the big secret, I wasn't allowed to go to TVs. I wasn't allowed to make sure all of these pretapes got shot," Russo said.

Russo said that his line of thinking when situations like that occurred were that those responsible were being lazy, as opposed to getting what was written done.

"They would come back from TV and half of these pre-tapes and vignettes I had wrote were not shot. Why? Because they were too damn lazy. They wanted to show up at the building at 10 o'clock, and wanted to eat as soon as the show was over," Russo said.

As many remember, the TNA show seemed to decline in quality towards the end of their Spike run, something Russo blames on their own laziness.

"They didn't want to show up early or stay late to get everything that was written. Therefore, that's why at the end of the Spike run when I was consulting, you saw a TNA product that was not up to par," Russo said.
