Sean Waltman On If He Preferred DX Or NWO, What Vince Told Him Before WWE Return Promo, Nash, Hall
As noted, Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman appeared on episode 104 of The Ross Report with Jim Ross. Among other things, Waltman talked about whether he preferred being in WWE's D-Generation X or WCW's New World Order. Also, Waltman discussed his promo from when he joined DX in 1998.
According to Waltman, he preferred being a part of WWE's DX stable to WCW's nWo because he made more money in DX and he was more fulfilled creatively in WWE.
"I made five times more money in DX." Waltman continued, "I don't want to discount the nWo stuff because that was huge and I'm so grateful to be a part of it. And I'm grateful that Eric Bischoff gave me that opportunity. And I had a ton of fun there. But it was nothing compared to the fun and creative satisfaction and just to be part of something amazing that I got from that whole DX experience."
As for Waltman's WWE Monday Night RAW promo from 1998 when he joined DX, Waltman recalled feeling some pressure backstage.
"I remember Vince [McMahaon] telling me before I went out, 'they're expecting something big, so go give it to them.'" Waltman continued, "it was kind of a rough, but very real promo".
In that promo, Waltman fired back at Hulk Hogan for saying Waltman could not "cut the mustard"; he took shots at Bischoff; and, he claimed that Scott Hall and Kevin Nash would have made the jump back to WWE with him had they not been "held hostage" by WCW. Waltman indicated that he cleared the statement with Nash the night before he returned to WWE.
"When [WCW] filed a lawsuit, I was deposed in Minneapolis [Minnesota]". Waltman continued, "and I remember them asking me, 'why did you say Scott Hall and Kevin Nash would be right there with you if they weren't being held hostage?' I said, 'well, that's because the night before when I talked to Kevin on the phone, he told me it would be cool if I said that.'"
In addition to these topics, Waltman compared the current WWE product to the New Generation Era; Waltman said his WWE Monday Night RAW victory over Razor Ramon was the biggest win of his career; and, Waltman talked about many other things.
