WWE NXT Recap (8/12): Bayley Vs. Becky Lynch Top Contender's Match, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Owens
Welcome to our WrestlingINC.com NXT coverage. Tonight we'll see Bayley take on Becky Lynch for #1 contendership to the NXT Women's Title. Samoa Joe, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens are all scheduled for the show as well.
- William Regal is shown confirming that the Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor NXT Title match at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable will be a ladder match.
Solomon Crowe vs. Tye Dillinger
Dillinger is working his "Perfect 10" gimmick, which gets a great reaction. The two trade holds until Crowe trips Tye up and lands a huracanrana. Dillinger turns things around quickly with a big boot. Dillinger applies an arm-in chinlock, and the crowd is fully behind him. Tye then lowers his knee pad and starts to get blasted repeatedly by Crowe.
Crowe scores a Twist of Fate, followed by a big knee in the corner. He then catches a kick from Dillinger, but then drives Crowe's face into his knee for the win.
Winner: Tye Dillinger via pinfall
- Tonight we'll see Bayley vs. Becky Lynch for number one contendership
Baron Corbin vs. Axel Tischer
Corbin drives Tischer into the corner and clotheslines him. End of Days. Time for the showers, Tischer.
Winner: Baron Corbin via pinfall (End of Days)
Baron Corbin says he'll keep dominating, and nobody gets up from the End of Days. Steve Cutler tries to help out Tischer, but gets End of Days as well. Samoa Joe comes out and says he's impressed, but Corbin won't be doing that to anyone. Corbin says they can do it, just not right now. He attacks Joe, but Joe reverses End of Days into the Kokina Clutch.
- We see a new BullFit video.
- Tyler Breeze cuts a promo backstage and says he'll dispose of Jushin Thunder Liger, just as he did Hideo Itami.
Finn Balor vs. Marcus Louis
Balor applies a headlock, and gets pushed into the corner where he's punched. Louis hits a uranage and goes to the old jaw claw. Balor chops his way out and hits a Slingblade before landing the dropkick to the corner and Coup de Grace for the win.
Winner: Finn Balor via pinfall (Coup de Grace)
Kevin Owens attacks Balor, but gets dropkicked through the barricade. They go back in the ring and Owens lands a pop-up powerbomb. Owens drops the NXT title on Balor and steps on him.
- The Vaudevillians are backstage and say that they have a plan to neutralize Alexa Bliss at Takeover. Bliss shows up and slaps both of them.
- We see an Apollo Crews training video. If you haven't seen him, he looks really impressive.
Number One Contender's Match
Bayley vs. Becky Lynch
Sasha Banks joins the commentary team as Bayley hugs several of her fans. Becky Lynch lands an armdrag, followed by an armbar. Bayley answers with one of her own and rolls Becky up for two. Becky fires back with a gut wrench suplex for two. Becky then manages to apply a submission on Bayley's injured hand with her feet.
Becky applies a double wristlock, then drops Bayley's arm across the top rope. She continues working on the arm of Bayley in the corner before driving it into the ground. Bayley rolls Becky up a few times for two counts, but Lynch scores a huge wrist clutch suplex for two.
Lynch follows up with legdrops, but misses the third and gets elbowed in the face. Bayley's flying back elbow gets two, and she landed rough. Bayley lands a powerslam for two, but Becky applies DisArmor. Bayley manages to get out and rolls Becky Lynch up for the win.
Winner: Bayley via pinfall
