Steve Austin Talks Getting Chewed Out By Vince McMahon After Brock Lesnar Talk, WrestleMania 32
Recently, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin interviewed former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen on The Steve Austin Show – Unleashed! podcast. When Sonnen told Austin that he expected to see Austin vs. Brock Lesnar headline WrestleMania 32, Austin quickly informed Sonnen that he is mistaken. Austin later added that he will not be working a match at WrestleMania 32, but that he would like to be in attendance for the event. Austin went on to share a story about McMahon chewing him out after Austin's podcast with Heyman for the WWE Network.
According to Austin, a few days after the interview where Heyman proposed the WrestleMania match between Austin and Lesnar, Austin received a telephone call from McMahon as Austin was in a Macy's dressing room trying on shorts for Broken Skull Challenge.
"I have Vince listed in my iPhone 6 [as] 'VKM', all capital letters," Austin recalled. "All of a sudden, 'hmmm... it's Mr. Vince McMahon calling me', so I'm thinking, 'okay, I got to answer the phone – he's either calling to tell me it was a great interview with Paul Heyman, we blew the internet up, or he's going to call and eat my ass out about making a match at WrestleMania 32 with Brock Lesnar', which was not my intention. It was the latter."
At that point, Austin assured McMahon that he would clear the air on his podcast and squash the WrestleMania 32 rumors. Austin described getting blasted by McMahon in the dressing room while I was trying on shorts as a "real interesting moment."
During the interview, Austin and Sonnen covered many professional wrestling and MMA topics. To check out the podcast in its entirety, click here.
