Anderson Silva Gets Punishment For Failed Drug Test, Huge Title Fight Added To Aldo - McGregor Show
- Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva was finally punished for his failed post-fight drug test for UFC 183 Thursday. Silva is suspended for a year, retroactive to January 31, fined his full $200,000 win bonus, as well as 30 percent of his $600,000 show money. His victory over Nick Diaz was overturned to a no-contest.
Silva will be required to provide a clean drug test in order to return to fighting next year. He twice tested positive for drostanolone metabolites prior to his UFC 183 fight against Diaz, first in a January 9 blood test, then in a January 31 urine test. He also tested positive for androstane, an anabolic steroid and temazepam and oxazepam, which are also banned substances on January 9.
