Tyson Kidd Talks About Brokering Shawn Michaels - Bret Hart Reunion
Tyson Kidd and Natayla appeared on Talk is Jericho this week to discuss tons of Hart Family stories with Winnipeg's Chris Jericho. During the conversation, Kidd was asked about working with Shawn Michaels during a point in which Bret Hart, Natalya's uncle, wasn't on speaking terms with the Heartbreak Kid.
Kidd said that when he started with WWE, Shawn Michaels actually sought him out to give him advice and constructive criticism. Unbeknownst to Michaels, Kidd had been close with the Hart Family, and told Bret about the situation.
"I told Shawn that, and his whole demeanor changed," Kidd said. "He said 'I didn't know you were from there.' We got deeper, and he wasn't crying, but it was in his eyes. He said 'sometimes I just want to show up on Bret's doorstep and let him punch me out. If we can talk after, that's all that I want."
Kidd says that he and Natalya went back and forth between Michaels and Bret, with Kidd noting that Hart was obsessed with finding out what Michaels said. Kidd also said there was a lot of paranoia involved with both sides of the situation. Bret was afraid that Michaels wouldn't be sincere, and he'd end up looking like a fool for it.
"I ended up getting Bret's number and giving it to Shawn." Kidd said. "I don't think they could have spoken on the phone. I think Shawn's smart and knew Bret's itinerary, so when Bret was on the plane for that first Raw back, maybe Shawn called because he knew he was in the air. It went straight to voicemail and [he] left a message so at least there's that little bit of peace."
