Brock Lesnar Working First House Show In Eleven Years, Opponent Revealed

We reported Thursday that Brock Lesnar would be returning to WWE TV in June, and that he'd been added to several WWE events, including July's Battleground pay-per-view. It appears fans in Japan will also see him live.

Lesnar is now set for the Independence Day live event at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan. WWE's Japanese twitter sent the news on Thursday night. Lesnar hasn't worked a house show since his original run with WWE, which would place his last in 2004.

Perhaps even more interesting is that Lesnar is in fact booked to wrestle on the show. His opponent will be a first-time matchup, as he's slated to face current WWE Tag Team Champion and New Day member Kofi Kingston, according to the translation.

Lesnar has worked in Japan since leaving the WWE, however, as he joined New Japan Pro Wrestling in October 2005 and immediately won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. He would go on to have seven matches with the promotion before having a contractual disagreement. He would later drop the title, renamed the "IWGP Third Belt Title" to Kurt Angle in 2007.

WWE Japan sent out several tweets to hype Lesnar's appearance, which you can see below:
