Roman Reigns Addresses Critics Harshly; Talks Injury, Female Attention, Wedding, Football Career
A lightning rod of controversy, Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns appeared on Sam Roberts' Wrestling Podcast to talk a variety of subjects. It's worth noting that while the podcast was posted after the Royal Rumble, the interview was actually done a few days prior to the event. Below are some highlights:
* Reigns said he planned his wedding around his injury, and figured that was as good a time as any to tie the knot.
* He said his injury was particularly tough on him, because he couldn't rehab or train around it. Due to the nature of the injury he just had to let it heal up.
* Reigns said he's always had female attention, but the WWE scale is unlike anything he's seen before. He joked that he felt like a piece of meat and said he knew what Hooters girls feel like now.
* Reigns said there wasn't much for him to do as a child besides play football. He said that took him through college and gave him a lot of opportunities. He had a desire to perform and look cool and be cool, and that played into his eventual love of wrestling.
* He's asked about not wanting to be shoved down people's throats, and Reigns says he has a responsibility to provide for his family. He said that ultimately he doesn't care because he's going to do whats best up for him. He said that most of the critics have never been in the ring and shouldn't be criticizing any performers.
* He says he wants to make everyone happy, or at least as many people as he can. He's trying to get as much out of the experience as he can. He sees his criticism about his promos, but he likes it because he's at least being mentioned.
