JBL Talks Monday Night War, WWE Having Him And Other Wrestlers Prepare For Fight With WCW
JBL appeared on Chris Jericho's Talk Is Jericho podcast last week, and the two talked heavily about the former WWE champion's career.
During the conversation, the topic shifted to how serious the Monday Night Wars became. JBL noted that when D-Generation X invaded WCW at the Norfolk Scope in 1998, WWE feared retaliation.
"They told me, Ron (Simmons), The Harris Boys, (Ken) Shamrock, I think (Steve) Blackman to be out at the parking lot at the end," JBL said. He joked that it would have been like a gang fight out of the Anchorman series.
"We had probably like 18 guys, including Ken Shamrock which is the only one you really needed all standing around while Vince left because we didn't know if WCW was going to come return the favor," JBL said.
JBL said that Triple H asked Vince McMahon what he would do if Eric Bischoff showed up, and McMahon gave security the green light to let Bischoff in because their ratings would have skyrocketed.
