Diamond Dallas Page Talks Jake Roberts And Scott Hall In WWE HOF, 'Monday Night Wars' Series, More
The most recent episode of the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast (Episode 013) features an interview with Diamond Dallas Page. In addition to talking about DDP Yoga, Page also touched on some wrestling-related fare.
Asked by host Sam Roberts how he feels about the role he played in helping to prepare Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Scott Hall for the recovery that would ultimately usher them into WWE's Hall of Fame, Page was both diplomatic and humble.
"They were blackballed pretty much," Page explained. "The company?they tried? I think Jake went to 11 rehabs and Scott went to 12. The company paid for almost all of those. Not all of them. I think Scott said he paid for a few on his own, as well. He doesn't really like to take things from people. And then they both get sober in the same year, in the same house and then go into the Hall of Fame at the same time. It was my 58th birthday when they had the Hall of Fame last year. It was like the greatest birthday present ever."
Roberts also asked Page for his thoughts on the WWE Network's Monday Night Wars series. Page indicated he'd seen many of the episodes and appreciated the shows but agreed that there was a bit of revisionism involved in the series.
"I think they're good, but they definitely have their own slant on it," Page said. "But I always say, the history is written by the winners? If they would have done it where it was down the middle, I think the people who know?people who watched would know... 'That's bullsh-t.' But it's still pretty good for WWE to put WCW over when they do."
