Alberto Del Rio Talks WWE Firing, Employee Threatening WWE With Lawsuit
After stepping out of the limelight for a while following his controversial release, Alberto Del Rio has been outspoken lately regarding the situations surrounding his WWE firing. This was certainly the case when he recently spoke to WrestleTalk TV.
"As you guys know I got fired because I stand up for myself against a (expletive) racist prick," said Del Rio. "He tried to make a joke against Mexicans and I wasn't going to let that happen."
Del Rio was released after striking Cody Barbierri, who is now also gone from the promotion. While initially settling for a three week suspension, Del Rio was instead fired, with the possibility of a return. Del Rio told Triple H he had no interest in returning to WWE if their phone call ended with him being released.
"The guy said he was going to sue the company, and for that reason the company let me go," Del Rio said. WWE was sued by former road producer Andrew Green for a physical incident involving Big Show last year.

"I was struggling for months to get this off of my chest," said Del Rio. "I was worried about these guys coming after me and ruining my kids' future, but I have the right people behind me."
Since his release, Del Rio has gone on to work for both AAA and Wrestle-1.
The second part of the interview airs this coming Sunday in the UK on Challenge at Midnight. Viewers outside the UK can watch the full shows on the WrestleTalk TV YouTube Channel at this link.
