More On Reid Flair's Passing, Ric Flair's Agent Issues Statement
As reported earlier, Reid Flair, the youngest son of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, passed away this morning. He had just turned 25 years old last month.
The Charlotte Observer reports that Reid was found at a Residence Inn in Charlotte, NC this morning after police received a call about an "unresponsive subject." Detectives stated that there didn't appear to be any foul play involved.
We had posted an article earlier this morning about Ric appearing at a pair of Big Time Wrestling events this weekend, however that was before we knew of Reid's passing. Obviously, Ric has cancelled those appearances, and we have updated the earlier article.
Reid made his debut on the national stage at the age of nine, when he defeated Eric Bischoff on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro on October 4, 1998.
In 2008, Reid appeared at WrestleMania with his family as his father was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame. He began training with Harley Race around that time, and made his debut on December 6, 2008, teaming with his elder brother David to face The Nasty Boys, with Hulk Hogan serving as the special guest referee.
Reid started training with All Japan Pro Wrestling late last year, and made his in-ring debut with the company last January. He wrestled his first singles match for the company just a couple of weeks ago, defeating Yasufumi Nakanoue with the Figure Four Leglock.
Ric Flair's agent, Melinda Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent and Entertainment, issued the following statement regarding Reid's passing:
"We are heartbroken to confirm that Ric's son, Reid Fliehr, has passed away today March 29, 2013 in Charlotte, NC. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing. Reid was 25 and an incredible son, brother, friend, and professional wrestler. No words can describe the grief that Ric and his family are experiencing and they do request privacy during this devastating time."
Our prayers and condolences go out to the Flair family.
