This Day In History: WCW-Japan Supershow III In The Tokyo Dome (Video)

For many years, the WCW and New Japan promotions have teamed together to create some spectacular events. Many future WCW stars, namely Eddie Guerrero and Jushin "Thunder" Liger, became popular internationally due to this partnership.

Starting in 1992, New Japan Pro Wrestling commenced a pay-per-view that would be aired every year on January 4th. The popularity of this concept has reached nearly 65,000 spectators, and continues to thrive successfully as being compared to the SuperBowl and WrestleMania of Japan.

Although the pay-per-view is now called Wrestle Kingdom, it began as Japan's Starrcade, and would later be renamed in the United States as WCW-Japan Supershow.

20 years ago in 1993, Japan aired its second PPV of the series, named Fantastic Story (also named WCW-Japan Supershow III).
