WWE NXT Recap: Tyson Kidd & Michael McGillicutty's Rubber Match, Matt Striker Rescued

Welcome to the April 11, 2012 edition of the WWE NXT recap.
The show's intro package runs and Josh Matthews welcome us. William Regal is of course there too.

Percy Watson vs. Johnny Curtis w/ Maxine

Percy gets on the mic and protests Maxine's presence which causes Regal to grab his own mic and tell Maxine to stay away from the ring. Maxine stands next to Regal and watches.
Percy works on Curtis' arm then drops him and continues with kicks to the groin. Maxine begins to whisper in Regal's ear. Regal leaves commentary and converses with her some. He puts his headsets back on and says something involving Matt Striker has been brought to his attention.

Back in the ring, Curtis is in control of Percy. Curtis applies an armbar as Percy tries to stand up. Curtis goes to the top but Percy pulls him down and Curtis hits the mat hard. Regal and Maxine leave the arena together. Percy is momentarily distracted by this and gets rolled up for a pin.

Winner by pin: Johnny Curtis

Reks and Hawkins are backstage as Maxine shows up. Maxine wants Striker but Reks and Hawkins first want to make sure she did what they asked of her regarding Regal. They walk off. Maxine splashes some water in her eyes and pretends to be crying as Kaitlyn and Bateman show up. Maxine puts her head in his chest and cries. Kaitlyn mocks her. Maxine wants Bateman to help her with her situation. He agrees and walks off with Kaitlyn as Maxine villainously dries her fake, water tears.

Titus O'Neil is backstage with Tamina. She is disgusted with his actions toward Darren Young last week and he offers her a peace offering: the coconut tree (pottery piece with dirt in it) that Young was going to give her. She is flattered and gives him a kiss on the cheek for it. She walks off admiring it as she walks into Young who asks where she got it and she tells him. She leaves and O'Neil comes into the shot dancing carrying on as Young confronts him. O'Neil says he's got more game than him and just wanted to prove it. He leaves?acting a fool?as Young looks on.

Backstage we see Kaitlyn and Bateman. They hear noises coming from behind a door. They open the door to find a tied, blindfolded, and gagged Matt Striker (I have said it before but it needs repeating: wasn't Matt Striker on camera at WrestleMania?) Striker is hysterical and can't stand. He is holding Hawkins' cane; he tells Bateman to let him handle it.

Reks and Hawkins are interrupted backstage by Regal. He is looking for Striker. Regal threatens them in a calm sadistic way and leaves. Reks and Hawkins discover Striker is missing from the closet they had left him in. They blame each other. Maxine and Curtis show up and gloat. Curtis acts weird some (big surprise) and leaves singing Alanis Morissette's Ironic. Reks and Hawkins ponder the whereabouts of Striker.

Michael McGillicutty vs. Tyson Kidd

A video recap is shown of their recent feud.
This is the rubber match as each man a one victory over the other. Kidd clotheslines McGillicutty over the top to the outside. Kidd springs over the ropes but gets caught in the apron fabric by the groin. McGillicutty throws Kidd to the announce table.
Back in the ring McGillicutty is in full control. He covers Kidd for a 2. Kidd fights his way up but is knocked back down. McGillicutty stomps him on the mat then applies a rear chin-lock. Kidd comes off the ropes and executes a arm drag and then both men hit simultaneous clotheslines and go down as the ref begins the 10 count. Both men get up at 5 with Kidd getting the advantage and a cover on McGillicutty for 2. Kidd goes to the top and leaps off for a neck breaker; he gets a 2 and a half.

Kidd charges at McGillicutty who launches Kidd onto the apron. Kidd kicks him in the head then leaps off with a springboard for a cross-body attempt but is caught in mid-air with a dropkick from McGillicutty who covers Kidd for a 2 count. McGillicutty executes a beautiful suplex a la his father, and instead of going for the pin, he applies the Sharpshooter. Kidd reaches the ropes and the move is broken. Kidd is lifeless as McGillicutty tries to set him up for a suplex but Kidd was playing possum. Kidd puts him in a submission arm bar for the win.
