Triple H Talks WrestleMania 29, The Undertaker & More
As noted earlier, Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg recently interviewed the "Cerebral Assassin" Triple H at an event promoting the announcement that WrestleMania 29 will take place at Met Life Stadium in New York. During the interview, Triple H discussed; WrestleMania, WWE always trying to get better and his match with The Undertaker. Here are some of the highlights.
On WrestleMania coming to the New York/New Jersey area: "Very excited to be here today for this press conference for WrestleMania. [WWE] coming to the New York/New Jersey area — like Vince [McMahon] said, this is home for us. This is our backyard. This area... Madison Square Garden, all of it — that is the history of what we are and it's home. This is probably the biggest WrestleMania announcement I've been a part of for that sole reason alone."
On how WWE manages to make WrestleMania feel bigger every year:
"One thing we run into almost every year with WrestleMania is; you do a promotion in a big city, it becomes bigger than it ever was and you say, 'Oh, my God. How do we top this next year?' And we figure out a way to do it."
On the crowd and fellow superstars appreciating his match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 27: "That bridge will come and will cross it and it'll be better than it was the year before. For us, this is it (for this year). It was the right time. This was a vetting process. You know, cities come to us. Venues come to us to pitch us [the idea] of WrestleMania being in their city. ... New York City/New Jersey beat out — I think — fifteen other people that came in with presentations for us about coming to their city and hosting WrestleMania there."
"To be in that arena and get it from the fans; great. To get it from your peers? Even better. To do it with The Undertaker who just epitomizes — to me — what our business is about. Not just as a performer but also a behind-the-scenes standpoint. To go out there and do that with him meant the world — I think — to both of us."
