ROH's Kevin Kelly Talks ROH's Debut On Sinclair, McGuinness' Return & More
The voice of Ring of Honor, Kevin Kelly, joined The Big Mosh & "The Chairman of the Board" Todd Vincent for the return of his exclusive segment on Monday Night Mayhem, "Ring of Honor On the Road." Here are some interview highlights courtesy of Khalil Thomas, MNM's associate producer & official correspondent:
His reactions/thoughts on the finished product of Ring of Honor's debut on the Sinclair Broadcast Group & why he feels "the best is yet to come": "It's been great. I've been getting a lot of feedback from fans & friends of mine within the industry. It's all been fairly positive, which is great. It certainly isn't perfect. There are a lot of things we could improve upon from the production standpoint. Things could always look better on camera. We thank old Ring of Honor fans, new fans who have never heard of us before, and everyone in between for tuning in. I think the best is yet to come."
What Nigel McGuinness' return means to the world of honor, what he will add to the ROH television broadcasts on SBG, & why, as a team, they have "barely scratched the surface" together: "He lends expertise that would not be available to us from just about anyone else. How many former Ring of Honor World Champions could we get that aren't currently employed or working for another company that we could bring in, and still have credibility with the Ring of Honor fan today, and who would still have buzz about him today from the way he abruptly left TNA. To me, Nigel is a no-brainer. We, as a team, have barely scratched the surface. But after working with him, I sat there being very comfortable, knowing that we weren't going to step on each other. I was able to pick up his points, and he mine. It worked really well."
The importance of Ring of Honor carrying its momentum into its return to Louisville, KY this Saturday night for its next set of television tapings for the Sinclair Broadcast Group: "The fans in Louisville are great, and everyone that's in the state of Kentucky can head down to The Davis Arena. It's gonna be a ball-buster night, because after the first experience of doing TV, a lot of the guys realize and feel it. The momentum that we carried into New York at 'Death Before Dishonor' (IX), I think there's renewed energy with the addition of The Young Bucks and the (Ring of Honor) TV Champion Jay Lethal. There's a lot of things going on that are good, and I think all that momentum heads to Louisville. I can't wait to get there."
