Jacques Rougeau To Retire, The Rock Note, & More

– Jacques Rougeau (a/k/a The Mountie), who held both the Intercontinental Championship and Tag Team Championship in WWE, has decided to conclude his legendary 33-year wrestling career and concentrate his efforts on his wrestling school in the Montreal borough of Laval. At the age of 50, he now feels it is time to pass the torch. Before he hangs up his boots for good, however, he will be holding a four-show retirement tour, which kicks off tomorrow night at the Verdun Auditorium. More information on the tour can be found at https://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/ Rougeau doesn't feel it's luck that he managed to avoid major injuries throughout his career. "I wasn't better than anyone else, just more careful," he theorized.

– ROH has announced the first main event for their Wrestlereunion 2011 show in L.A. on January 28th. The Kings of Wrestling will be taking on Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team in a rematch from their September 11th bout. Here's the ROH press release:

On September 11, 2010 two of the best tag teams in the world stepped into the ring: The Kings of Wrestling and Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team. Four men who have been the best in their field at different times, with Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli in their fifth month as the ROH World Tag Team Champions. That night the reigning champions were victorious in the non-title affair, albeit with some questionable use of a certain elbow pad. Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin got a small measure of revenge by stripping Shane Hagadorn and elbow dropping his?groin, but the fire still burns in Haas & Benjamin to get their hands on the Kings. Well their chance is almost at hand, because on Friday night January 28th, as part of "Wrestlereunion 2010", it will be The Kings of Wrestling vs. The WGGT: Round II! Once again, the belts will not be on the line due to the victory the KoW already have over Haas & Benjamin, but a victory over the champions will put the two former World Champions in contention for a tag title shot.

"You can bring the best you have Charlie & Shelton," said Claudio Castagnoli, "but Hero and I will destroy you once again. We are The Kings, we will reign supreme." "In New York it took a loaded elbow pad to put us down." said Charlie Haas, "Maybe we weren't prepared for that, maybe Shelton and I expected honorable competition. Our mistake. Now we know that trick and in Los Angeles you can bet your ass history will not repeat itself. We will earn our shot at the belts when we beat you two in LA, and then we will earn the right to be called champions when we beat you again!"

As if this rematch wasn't big enough, word has it that it's only one-half of ROH's double main-event for January 28th! We should have news later in the week on the second major match so keep your eye on ROHWrestling.com! Tickets are available now for ROH's return to Los Angeles and for more information on the WrestleReunion 2011 convention please visit wrestlereunion.com.
