Despite LA Knight's best efforts, Roman Reigns is still World Heavyweight Champion after defeating "The Megastar" in the opening match of WWE Money in the Bank 2026.

After some trash talking by Knight, the men battled back and forth, taking one another down. Reigns took over with a big clothesline off the ropes and looked for the Superman punch, but Knight dodged it, then hit an atomic drop, followed by a neck breaker.

The men fought out of the ring and Knight bashed Reigns off the barricades, then the ring post. He cleared the commentary desk, but Reigns recovered quickly and they were back between the ropes, where Knight hit an elbow drop.

Reigns hit a Superman punch from out of nowhere, and looked for a second, but Knight moved out of the way, sending the "Tribal Chief" shoulder-first into the ring post. Knight took Reigns to the top, but the champion knocked him down, but Knight was able to jump up and hit a superplex. He followed with a burning hammer.

Reigns got out of the way of a top rope elbow drop and the pair again battled out of the ring, but Knight countered a powerbomb attempt that would have sent him through the desk. Reigns connected with the Superman punch, but Knight countered the spear into a BFT. He taunted Reigns before walking into a spear, but kicked. Knight hit a spear off his own as Reigns was coming off the ropes.

Knight ran into a Superman punch on the outside, but managed to get Reigns up and send him through the commentary desk after Reigns sent himself through the barricade with a spear attempt. The champion kicked out of the top rope elbow drop and dodged the BFT. Reigns hit two Superman punches, then a final spear for the victory.
