'Dancing With The Stars' Recap: Nikki Bella Pays Tribute To Her Mexican Heritage

It's Disney week on Dancing with the Stars, you guys, and all the guest stars were underpaid theme park workers in Pluto suits. But you know what — you can't get mad. After all, Disney is the parent company of ABC, the network on which Dancing with the Stars airs.

Our girl Nikki Bella, of course, wasn't afraid to get in on the fun while also paying tribute to her Mexican heritage (she's part-Mexican, part-Italian — and made no bones about reminding everyone she's a "Mexican, not Mexi-can't"). The new Disney film, Coco, which is set in Mexico and is about a young boy celebrating the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), was the backdrop of Bella's dance with her professional dance partner, Artem Chigvintsev. They danced a funky little jazz number to "Remember Me," which is sung by Benjamin Bratt in the film.

What's more, Len Goodman told Nikki that she was positively "radiant" (high praise coming from him) and Bruno Tonioli said that her dance was a "celebration of life." Carrie Ann Inaba, for her part, recalled that the jazz elements of the dance were very "traditional," which perhaps can be credited to her Mexican roots.

And though Nikki didn't take the top spot tonight — that honor goes to Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold, who are tied for first — she scored the best scores of her time on the show so far, bringing home a 27 out of 30, and rendering her safe from elimination.
