Dana White On If Brock Lesnar's Suspension Diminishes His Achievements, CM Punk Earning His Respect

"He came to find me and meet me and I wasn't a believer and he made me a believer," White said. "Brock was coming in with one professional fight and he's like, 'I want a fight here. I want a fight in the best place there is to fight.' I said, 'man, you're f–king crazy. This isn't the place to come in 1 and 0.' Do you know what I mean? Boy, did I change my mind about that. What Brock accomplished here at the UFC was awesome."

Moreover, White claimed that Lesnar's recent suspension does not diminish Lesnar's achievements.

"He came in the first time with only one fight. Then, after the layoff, his age, and everything else, I didn't know what to expect and the guy is an absolute freak of nature regardless of the stuff that went down and everything else. Still, to come in here and compete at that level is pretty impressive."

With respect to CM Punk's foray into mixed martial arts, White indicated that the longest reigning WWE Champion of the modern era has worked hard and gained the respect of his peers at Roufusport Martial Arts Academy.

"CM Punk was a huge UFC fan. He and I became friends and it was his dream to come try and compete in the UFC. And I said, 'you know what? I'll let you give it a shot.' The guy [has] been working hard. There were a lot of jokes made when he came into the sport and people are still making jokes about the guy, but I'll tell you what, the team that he trains with, Duke Roufus's team, everybody there respects CM Punk. The guy [has] worked hard, he's in there every day, he doesn't go in there with 'I'm a superstar' attitude, he started from the bottom and worked his way up, and everybody respects him. So we'll see. Win, lose, or draw, I have a lot of respect for the guy and how hard he [has] gone after it."
