Top New Japan Pro Wrestling Star Injured, Out Of Upcoming PPV Match

New Japan Pro Wrestling suffered a big blow this week, as longtime "ace" Hiroshi Tanahashi has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury, and will be withdrawn from the upcoming Dominion show.

Tanahashi said earlier this week that his shoulder was in such bad shape that he wasn't able to lift a water bottle, and would likely have to choose between wrestling at Dominion and participating in the G1 Climax.

Tanahashi was scheduled to face IWGP Intercontinental Champion Kenny Omega at Dominion on June 19. The two were set to participate in a ladder match.

The shoulder injury was sustained earlier this year, and the plan was for Tanahashi to take time off. Those plans were put on hold after Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, AJ Styles and Kota Ibushi all left the company.
