Former WWE Creative Writer Talks About Shane McMahon, The Build For His Match, WrestleMania Weekend

WrestleMania is this Sunday, and the Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker match, while not making the most sense, is being billed as one of the biggest in history.

Myself and Wrestling Inc founder spoke to former WWE creative member and Wrestling Inc writer Court Bauer about the build.

"The first chapter of the Shane story was fantastic, but we saw some of the hiccups of how they set the hell in a cell match up. How do you get out of that? Babyface vs. babyface, there are some issues. His back and forth with his father and Stephanie? Magical. A moment wrestling fans won't soon forget," Bauer said.

Bauer also said that WrestleMania week itself has changed, and doesn't seem to hinge on any particular match that WWE is promoting.

"These are different times and the audience is changing. The fans, they're going for the experience. They're not going for the big marquee match as much as to be a part of something. That whole weekend has evolved into something more than just one show for fans, it's a celebration of wrestling. You have wrestling shows at midnight, Jim Ross has his shows. It's being around everyone that loves wrestling. The build's been a funky build, no doubt about it," said Bauer.

Bauer is helping promote WaleMania 2, after an extremely first successful event last year. However, Bauer wasn't sure that a second one would ever happen, as he thought it was hard to recreate the magic.

"We wanted to do it, but I thought it'd be hard to replicate that experience and capture that lightning in a bottle twice. I wanted to blow people away. To have the arrogance that you could do it twice...by six months out I said we're probably not going to do it twice. I was getting nudged to do it by friends and Wale and stuff, and put pencil to paper to see what we could do different in Dallas. Working to find different way to have AAA and Lucha Underground to have a presence in Dallas, that was something I wanted to do. That's how Jack Evans, Pentagon Jr and Taya got involved. They'll be doing a meet and greet for our VIP members."

Bauer told us that general admission and VIP tickets are both sold out for WaleMania, but tickets may be available at the door. WaleMania 2 takes place Thursday, March 31, at 7:30 PM local time at Winstons Supperclub. You can find more info at this link.
