Vince Russo On If He Thinks Vincent J. McMahon Award Is A Work, Getting Yelled At By Vince Jr.

On last night's episode of the Live Wrestling Inc Podcast, Vince Russo and the rest of our Wrestling Inc panel broke down an underwhelming edition of Monday Night Raw. On the broadcast, however, a major award was announced – the Vincent J. McMahon Award of Excellence.

The award was touted as being given to the first person in company history to deserve the achievement. Former WWE, WCW and TNA writer Vince Russo said recalled a time when he worked at Madison Square Garden and Vincent K. McMahon went off on him over not wearing a tie.

"During my first shows at Madison Square Garden working behind the scenes, I was dressed up really nice, but I made the mistake of not putting a tie on. Vince McMahon pulled me aside and read me the riot act because his father was in the Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame and it means a lot to him. He was genuinely pissed off," Russo said

Russo said that the company naming the award after Vincent J. McMahon and that incident leads him to believe that it will be an actual award.

"Never forgetting that, I can't see them using his dad's name to shoot an angle. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, but I'll never forget that night and how serious Vince was because his father was involved. I would be really surprised if they were going to use this thing for an angle," Russo said.

Raj Giri of the panel questioned why the award wasn't simply handed out at the Hall of Fame, as opposed to a Raw in February. You can see the full discussion at about the 30 minute mark on the show.

Also on the podcast, the crew talks Raw, WWE Fastlane, what the WWF thought of the Westminster Kennel Dog Show in the Attitude era, Paige possibly being in the doghouse, Vince Russo getting heat from agents and much more.
