WWE Superstars Recap (1/1): First Show Of 2016, Mark Henry & Jack Swagger Team Up, Darren Young Wins

Welcome to WrestlingInc's coverage of WWE Superstars! This will be WWE's first programming of 2016, despite it being taped in 2015.

Darren Young vs. Adam Rose

Adam Rose is in control early, in a rare Superstars match that we haven't seen before. Rose runs into the elbow of Darren Young and rolls to the apron, which Young backdrops him across. Yeah, Darren Young just did an apron backdrop three and a half minutes into WWE Superstars. Back in the ring, Rose regains control and applies a big headlock and punishes Young with forearms. Rose misses on a tornado DDT and Young scores the Gut Check for the pinfall win.

Winner: Darren Young via pinfall (Gut Check)

The commentators speculate as to whether or not Darren Young will capture singles gold in 2016.

Mark Henry & Jack Swagger vs. The Ascension

No reason is given for the Henry and Swagger pairing, but why not? The Ascension start off aggressive, but Konnor is sent outside before we get a commercial break. As we come back, The Ascension isolate Swagger on their side of the ring, working him over for several minutes. Swagger avoids a charging Konnor and makes the hot tag to Mark Henry, who destroys everything in his path. World's Strongest Slam, victory.

Winners: Jack Swagger & Mark Henry via pinfall (World's Strongest Slam)
