WWE Network Officially Launches In India: Details On Devices & Language, No Live PPV Until 2017

As of today, the WWE Network is available in the country of India via desktop, laptop and mobile devices. Support for video game consoles, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and Smart TV applications will be added on November 22nd, and WWE is assuring potential adopters that said devices will be ready to go before Survivor Series that night.

Notably, the WWE Network feed in India will still broadcast the U.S. English feed and new users will get their first month for free. The one major difference in the service is that new users there will get access to each new WWE PPV a full 24 hours after they air, instead of live, with plans to begin live broadcasting of all PPV events in 2017.

Financially, breaking into India – a country of over 1.25 billion people (or roughly 4 times the size of the U.S.) – has to be seen as a big win for the company. It will be interesting to see if this announcement bears any reflection on WWE stock, which has fallen quite a bit over the last few days, and current sits down 2.75% at 17.34.

After India, the last major market WWE should be looking to penetrate is obviously China, the world's largest country, with almost 1.4 billion people. Unfortunately, due to the nation's extremely strict internet laws and regulations, this is unlikely to happen soon, if ever.
