Ring Of Honor And Sinclair Broadcasting Briefly Blacked Out On DISH Network
Earlier this week, Sinclair Broadcasting and Dish Network had a halt in negotiations that resulted in 129 stations being blacked out on Dish.
The two sides had originally reached an agreement to an extension, so the two could continue negotiations, however Sinclair made the call to cancel it. The move caused viewers in 36 states to lose access to Sinclair, which syndicated Ring of Honor television.
FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler set up an emergency meeting between Dish and Sinclair to hash out the issues, and gave them until midnight on Wednesday to file their issues regarding the dispute.
Dish later announced that they had reached an agreement that would see Sinclair Broadcast Group remain with Dish, and effectively keep Ring of Honor in those homes.
Wheeler commented on the matters in a press release, saying they didn't want consumers to suffer from the disagreement.
"We will not stand idly by while millions of consumers in 79 markets across the country are being denied access to local programming," Wheeler said. "The Commission will always act within the scope of its authority if it emerges that improper conduct is preventing a commercial resolution of the dispute."
As of now, Ring of Honor remains on Destination America, in addition to their syndicated and online distribution.
