Sean Waltman Talks Legendary Feud With Razor Ramon, Big Accident In Their $10K Match

Recently, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin welcomed Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman to the Steve Austin Show podcast. On this episode, the two talked about many topics, including Waltman's WWF debut and his feud with Razor Ramon, also known as Scott Hall. According to Waltman, the plan all along for his debut was to be brought in under the guise of being an enhancement talent and then scoring the huge upset victory against Razor Ramon.

"Nobody knew that I was going to do that angle with Scott [Hall] two weeks later," Waltman said. "I never let on about anything."

Waltman's first televised matches for the WWF were losses against Doink the Clown, also known as Matt Osborne, and Curtis Hughes.

"I just went out there and I don't even remember saying a word to Matt [Osborne] about what we were going to do," Waltman recalled. "Both him and Curtis Hughes just squashed the crap out of me."

Regarding the $10,000 match against Razor Ramon, Waltman said that he was knocked out from the botched flip on the pavement. Apparently, the flip was supposed to be the finish of the match with Waltman landing the flip, grabbing the money, running to the backstage area, and leaving the arena in a car.

A misread between Waltman and Hall led to the accident, as Hall believed that Waltman would have rushed to get to the top turnbuckle instead of selling. When Waltman noticed Hall was already in position to take the flip, Waltman sped up and his foot slipped off of the top rope. Waltman fell to the exposed concrete floor and Hall rolled the concussed Waltman back into the ring. While referee Earl Hebner called for Hall to pin Waltman, Hall was reluctant to do so because it would really have been over for Waltman if he lost.

"And just as he's about to pin me, I yell, 'moonsault!'" Waltman recalled. According to Waltman, Hall asked, "like before [referring to their previous match]?" and Waltman confirmed.

Waltman hit what he described as the best moonsault of his life on Hall. Hall was going to let Waltman get the pinfall victory following the moonsault, but Hebner instructed Hall to kick out at the two count. After Hall kicked out, Waltman was told to get the money. He took the money and ran to the backstage area as previously planned.

"I cannot believe that we pulled it out of our anus like that," Waltman admitted.

On Waltman's chemistry with Hall, Waltman said Hall was incredible and he pointed out that he had good chemistry with all of the members of the Kliq. Waltman called a tag team match he had on WWF Action Zone, where he teamed with Hall to face Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels "one of the best tag matches".

"Without trying to sound like [I am] bragging, it's hard to find a better tag match than that," Waltman claimed. "It's a hell of a match and we were all just clicking, and, no pun intended, we were all just really in tune with each other."
