Former WWE Employee Talks Being Stuck In A Limo With Vince McMahon, Drinking With Ric Flair

Solomon recalled a three-hour limousine ride with Vince McMahon, calling it one of the most surreal experiences of his life. As the story goes, Solomon was charged with interviewing McMahon for the tenth anniversary of Monday Night Raw special magazine and Shane McMahon, who was responsible for WWE's entire publishing division at the time, arranged for Solomon to ride with Vince McMahon in a limousine from Manhattan, New York to Stamford, Connecticut.

The limousine was met with what Solomon described as a horrendous traffic jam.

"We wound up in the car for probably twice the amount of time it should normally take to drive from Manhattan to Stamford," Solomon said. "We got to the point where I completely ran out of questions."

The two ended up talking about many topics such as Vince McMahon, Sr., raising children, and other aspects of McMahon's personal life. The trip went so long that Solomon even witnessed McMahon singing 'Happy Birthday' to the voicemail of longtime WWE employee Liz Difabio. Solomon was pleasantly surprised at how amiable and "great" McMahon was about Solomon running out of questions to ask during the interview.

Solomon also recounted an outing with Ric Flair. Apparently, WWE prohibits staff from fraternizing with talent; however, Flair invited Solomon to have a few drinks with him. Solomon remembered, "we were in Manchester, England and he saw me and called me over, which I was really flattered [by] and I didn't want to say 'no'."

Solomon claimed that Flair told him stories about 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and the Four Horsemen. Additionally, Solomon noted that Flair probably had a little too much too drink and got a little "flirty" with some of the girls. Solomon said he stole the glass from the first drink Flair bought for him as a momento.

"I smuggled the glass out of the bar," Solomon continued, "I still have it sitting in my cupboard."

In addition to talking with Solomon, Ross also interviewed author Paul O'Brien. To check out the entire podcast, click here.
