Hulk Hogan Comments On The Passing Of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper

Hulk Hogan commented on the passing of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper to TMZ, perhaps his greatest rival in the ring.

"He was my best friend. He is a legend," Hogan said. "God's gain is our loss. May his family in this time of need, find peace. Much love forever, HH."

Hogan and Piper were involved in the main event of WrestleMania I in 1985. They also faced each other in a singles match at The Wrestling Classic on November 7, 1985, which was technically WWE's first-ever pay-per-view event. They reignited their feud in WCW in 1996, and again in WWE in 2003. Despite their feud starting in 1985, Piper's victory over Hogan at Starrcade in 1996 was the first time that one of their televised matches had a decisive finish.

Piper and Hogan last appeared on screen together during Hogan's birthday celebration on RAW last August.
