Frank Mir Surprised Brock Lesnar Stayed With WWE, WWE Statement On Sending Belts To Athletes, DDP

- Sporting News has an interview here with Frank Mir, who defeated Brock Lesnar in Lesnar's debut in 2008. Lesnar got retribution by defeating Mir at UFC 100 in 2009, and Mir was looking forward to a rubber match until Lesnar decided to re-sign with WWE this past March. Mir admitted that Lesnar's decision was disappointing.

"It surprised me just because I was really hearing from the UFC and the rumors around from the powers that be that it was all but a signed deal," Mir told Sporting News. "And so, I was surprised. I really thought that was going to happen and that he was going to happen as long as I won the fight against Bigfoot Silva that would put us in line for each other. I was disappointed. That's a huge opportunity. You can see fighting people that bring that kind of attention only helps out your career.

"Brock's a huge name. The guy is still a marketing machine. Why wouldn't I want to face him? A win over him would help me out. So knowing that wouldn't happen was definitely disappointing."

- DDP Yoga will be hosting a workshop in Las Vegas on October 2nd and 3rd. There will also be a Q&A followed by a martini party. You can get more details here.

- Tech Times has an article here about WWE sending replica belts to athletes and sports teams, including most recently Todd Frazier of the Cincinnati Reds and the United States women's national soccer team. WWE sent the site this statement regarding their tribute:

"WWE sends the WWE World Heavyweight Championship title to athletes and teams either through an individual athlete's representation or to team officials. WWE has sent the Championship title to various teams and athletes for a number of years. The WWE World Heavyweight Championship title signifies the pinnacle of greatness, and it is our honor to present it to those outside of WWE who have achieved this championship level status in their own field. We think it is a fitting tribute to the best of the best."
