Sheamus Talks About Shelton Benjamin Calling Him A Rookie, Heat Over Winning The Title Quickly

Sheamus appeared on this week's episode of Talk is Jericho, and spoke about several subjects throughout his career in the WWE and Europe. Sheamus distinctly remembers Shelton Benjamin repeatedly calling him a rookie, even though he'd been wrestling for over seven years.

"I've got no problem with Shelton, he's an amazing athlete. But every time we were sitting down he was calling me rookie. I don't know what it was. I'd never been anything but nice to him and I just wanted to make the feud good," Sheamus said.

Sheamus made sure to point out he respects Benjamin, but was perplexed about Benjamin's fascination with calling him a rookie. Jericho pointed out that Benjamin only spent a couple more years in wrestling than Sheamus.

"It really annoyed me, but I was going to stay professional about it," he said. "At TLC after I beat John Cena, I was sitting there with the championship and I thought to myself, 'Who's the bleedin' rookie now, mate?"

The Irishman also said that there was heat backstage over the move, although in an unusual manner.

"I walked backstage and it was like a ghost town, there were so many people pissed off. It was brilliant," Sheamus said.
